This Privacy Policy explains how the website at https://portcheck.ing (the “Service”) handles information. The short version: we do not collect, log or store your personal information, and we do not keep a record of the checks you run.

No account, registration, sign-in or email address is required or offered.
We do not ask you for personal information and we do not want it.
We do not maintain a database of users, of visitors, or of port checks.
We do not sell, rent or trade any information about you.
The check history you may see on the site is stored only in your own browser and never reaches our servers.

2. Information we do not collect

We do not collect or store your name, email address, postal address, telephone number, payment details, account credentials, contacts, precise location, or any other information that identifies you personally. We do not build a profile of you, we do not track you across websites, and we do not use fingerprinting techniques to recognise your device.

3. The checks you run

When you submit a hostname or IP address and a port number, that information is sent to our server so it can attempt a TCP connection and return the result to you. It is processed in memory for the sole purpose of performing that check and returning the answer. We do not write it to a database, we do not retain a log of it, and we do not associate it with you or with any other check.

Because a check is performed by our server connecting to the host you name, the operator of that host may see a connection from our server's IP address in their own logs. What that third party records is governed by their practices, not ours.

4. Data stored on your own device

For your convenience, the Service saves your recent checks in your browser's localStorage so it can show them to you the next time you visit. This data stays on your device, is never transmitted to us, and is not accessible to us. You can delete it at any time by removing an entry with the delete control on the page, or by clearing your browser's site data for this website.

5. Server-level processing

Like every website, the Service can only answer your browser because your device's IP address is part of the network request. We use your IP address transiently to deliver the response and to protect the Service against abuse. We do not store it, and we do not use it to identify or profile you.

The page also shows you your own public IP address as a convenience. That lookup is made by your browser directly against a public IP echo service, and the value is displayed to you in the page; it is not recorded by us.

6. Cookies

The Service does not set cookies of its own, and it does not use cookies to identify or track you. Third-party services described in the next section may set cookies in your browser; you can block or delete cookies through your browser settings.

7. Third-party services

To keep the Service free and to understand roughly how much it is used, the Service loads a small number of third-party components. These providers are independent controllers of any data they receive, and their own privacy policies apply:

We do not receive from these providers, and do not ask them for, any information that identifies you individually.

The Service contains links to other websites that we do not operate. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices, and this Policy does not apply to them. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any website you visit.

9. Security

The Service is served over HTTPS. Because we do not collect or store personal information, there is no store of your data for us to lose. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, delete, port and object to the processing of your personal data. Because we do not collect or retain personal data about you, we generally hold nothing to access, correct, delete or export.
